  • Keep ICE out of Franklin Park School District 84
    We are proud parents of students enrolled in schools within Franklin Park School District 84. We are proud of the racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity that makes up our school community and the village of Franklin Park. On August 15th, Governor Pritzker signed the Safe Schools for All bill (HB 3247) into law. Creating a SAFE ZONE policy is one way to make sure our community is in compliance.  Built upon legal protections that are already in place, including FERPA and the U.S. Constitution, SAFE ZONE policies have been passed in school districts from Colorado to Kentucky because they provide clear limits on when and how ICE enters the school and how school staff will support families.  Sign this petition to urge leaders to pass a SAFE ZONE Policy to keep our students and community safe.     Congress is considering a proposal to cut $12 billion for public education in the FY2026 budget, including an almost 30% decrease in Title 1 funds for low-income families. These are cuts our students cannot afford. We call on our federal legislators to take immediate and proactive steps to safeguard the rights, safety, and educational opportunities of all students, by supporting legislation that affirms and funds access to high-quality public education for every child in every state.     Vibrant, high-quality public schools are the key to thriving communities like ours.  Signing this petition – and urging others to sign as well – is an easy and effective way to get our school board to step up and help us protect public education from this attack. This measure would hurt public schools and threaten their funding. Public schools need more teachers, better teacher pay, and smaller class sizes. This measure will only make it harder to fund those improvements by opening the door to taking money from public schools—which serve 95% of Colorado students—to fund private schools.
