Stop the Federal Cuts to Public Education!

A graphic promoting Public School Strong's petition to stop federal cuts. There is a cutout of a young female student on a computer screen with text that reads "Students need fully funded schools, not more cuts!"
Public education is under attack. We are calling on Congress to pass a federal budget that does not include cuts to public education. Our students and public schools cannot afford $12 billion in cuts. If the budget passes as it stands, millions of students—especially those from low-income families, in rural communities, students with disabilities, and English language learners—will lose funding for their public schools and access to the quality education they deserve.

You have the opportunity to take a courageous stand for our students and their futures by urging your colleagues to reject these cuts.

Strong public schools strengthen communities. Constituents are counting on you to protect our families, communities, and public school students and refuse to support cuts to public school funding.

Why is this important?

Congress is considering a proposal to cut $12 billion for public education in the FY2026 budget, including an almost 30% decrease in Title 1 funds for low-income families.

These are cuts our students cannot afford. We call on our federal legislators to take immediate and proactive steps to safeguard the rights, safety, and educational opportunities of all students, by supporting legislation that affirms and funds access to high-quality public education for every child in every state.

Sign this petition to make it clear that we are the majority and we demand a fully funded and equitable public school system.

Our children’s future depends on strong, well-funded public schools. Add your name now and tell Congress: Stop the Federal Cuts to Public Education!
