About Us

What is this?

Public School Strong is a national campaign with one simple goal. We’re building people power so that every student — regardless of zip code, race, gender or ethnicity — has equitable access to quality public schools that don’t discriminate.

Public School Strong is led by everyday parents, educators, and students in public schools around the country – not by wealthy individuals fueling division for political gain.

We support honest, equitable and fully funded public education that respects and celebrates all identities, utilizes a rich variety of age-appropriate books, and supports our educators’ freedom to teach the truth about our past and present so students can shape a better future. Public School Strong — started by parents, educators, and students in North Carolina — is expanding to public school districts across the country. With this site you can help build the Public School Strong campaign in your own school district!

How do I get started?

First, create your profile at https://publicschoolstrong.controlshift.app/users/sign_up, then join your statewide Public School Strong team (you’ll find the pin at your state capitol). Then, search on the homepage to see if there is already a local Public School Strong team in your school district that you can join. If there is, join it! If there is not one already, we encourage you to join a Public School Strong Orientation (sign up at bit.ly/psstraining), to get you ready to create your own team and start inviting others to join it.

You can create a team for your school district in the Public School Strong platform even if you are the only member so far. In fact, doing so can help others find you. To help you think through who to invite to your PSS district-level team, check out this worksheet - https://bit.ly/identifysupporters. When starting a new team, please keep in mind that you don't need to get everything perfect! Here are some steps to get you started... 1. Talk to friends, family members and neighbors to gauge interest. 2. Invite people to join an Orientation Session, and then invite them for coffee or a house party to learn more about building the campaign in your area.
