To: President Norman, Board Members, Dr. Smith,
We Stand Strong—For our Kids, Our Communities, and Our Future
I pledge to stand with my neighbors, educators, and community members to protect and strengthen Lawrence Township’s traditional public schools. I believe every child—no matter their race, zip code, language, or learning needs—deserves a fully funded, inclusive, and community-led public school.
By signing this pledge, I commit to standing up, speaking out, and showing up to defend public education against disinvestment, privatization, and policies that put profits over people. Learning about what happens in my school district helps me be a better advocate in all arenas.
Our schools belong to the public. And I’m ready to fight for them.
Why is this important?
📝We, the undersigned educators, families, and community members, stand united in support of strong, fully funded, and truly public schools in Lawrence Township and across Central Indiana.
Public education is the heart of our communities. It’s where children discover who they are, where families come together, and where educators build futures. Yet too often, the very schools that serve as anchors in our neighborhoods are overburdened by underfunded mandates that drain resources without delivering better outcomes.
We believe in public schools that:
- Serve all students—regardless of background, zip code, language, or ability.
- Are led by experienced educators, not corporate interests.
- Reflect the values, culture, and needs of the community they serve.
- Are accountable to the public—not private management or political agendas.
We know our schools work best when educators, families, and school leaders collaborate—not compete. When teachers are respected. When funding reaches the classroom. When decisions are made in the light, not behind closed doors.
📢 Our Commitment:
We pledge to stand Public School Strong by:
- Defending our neighborhood public schools from privatization and disinvestment;
- Promoting public education as a public good that uplifts communities;
- Advocating for policies that fund schools equitably and prioritize students’ needs;
- Organizing with others who believe in strong public schools for every child.
Our public schools are worth fighting for—because our students are worth it.
