Please Help Raise Our Voices at the Capitol for Fully, Fairly Funded Schools!

This is a critical moment for public school funding in Colorado.
On one hand, for the first time ever, our legislature has received recommendations from two state-commissioned "adequacy studies" that outline the resources necessary to ensure that every Colorado student can thrive and meet the standards and requirements set by the state. Finally, we have an answer to what "full and fair" funding really means.
On the other hand, due to a $1.2 billion structural deficit and uncertainty in federal funding, school districts are anticipating having to make difficult budget cuts.
We need our legislators to take concrete steps toward implementing and funding the recommendations of the adequacy study. If we don't inspire that action during this legislative session, it is likely that the Adequacy Studies will be put on a shelf, and this opportunity to envision and implement a plan to fully and fairly fund public schools will be lost.
Colorado can afford to fully and fairly fund our schools. This is our moment moment to Get It Done.
We ask you to pass a resolution calling on the legislature to make a formal commitment to analyzing and implementing the studies. That formal commitment can be made through the creation of a Legislative Interim Committee and/or passage of a legislative resolution publicly committing to the creation and implementation of Colorado's Blueprint for Student Success.

Why is this important?
As TABOR restricts state funding for schools and federal support for public education is under siege, Colorado is at a fork in the road:
We can throw up our hands or we can roll up our sleeves.
We can accept the status quo, or we can envision and work together toward a Colorado where every student attends a welcoming public school where they feel safe, seen, supported, valued and challenged.
If you agree that public education is the most important investment we can make in the future of our students, families, communities, economy and democracy, it's time to take action.
Let's make sure the Colorado legislature takes concrete steps this session to protect and promote public education. Join your fellow public school supporters as we call on our legislators to create a legislative interim committee to design a Blueprint for Student Success -- a structured multi-year plan to secure a vibrant public education system in Colorado for decades to come.
Sign this petition to your local school board, asking them to pass a resolution demanding action from our legislators.
Together we can Get It Done!
