No banned books in North Little Rock

The district directed teachers and staff to hide certain book titles in their reading program, Epic, based on one parent's complaint. The books are those with LGBTQ+ perspectives.  There was no board vote.   The directive stated that the district wants to respect " diverse" religious beliefs.
At the very least, there should be a school board vote on this AFTER time for public comment and feedback.  The school board are elected to represent parents and community members.

Why is this important?

While nominally honoring diversity, the district is alienating families with LGBTQ+ children or family members.    These books are not required reading, but can be selected.  Those who do not approve do not have to read them.   Banning books violates first amendment rights.
