As DPS parents, grandparents, students, educators, and community members, we believe that our students deserve to attend welcoming schools that are fully and fairly funded. Thanks to two "adequacy studies" that were commissioned by the state, we have data and concrete recommendations to follow.
The studies outline the resources necessary to make sure that every student can thrive and succeed. Recommendations include:
- We need to hire more teachers, counselors, tutors, and student support professionals.
- We need to pay them more.
- We need to teach the whole child, providing individual attention, electives, and activities that help them learn about themselves and their passions, interests, and talents.
Finally, we have an answer to what full and fair funding really means. It’s up to us to Get It Done for DPS and all Colorado students.
We ask the Denver Public Schools Board of Education to pass a resolution calling on the state legislature to make a formal commitment to analyzing and implementing the adequacy studies.
