Teach Truth March from NMAAHC to NMAI

A march hosted by Teaching for Change’s D.C. Area Educators for Social Justice (DCAESJ), CARE Washington, D.C., EmpowerEd, and National Education Association (NEA), from the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) to the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI), highlighting the censorship of history in schools, libraries, and museums — stopping at each of the museums on the way to share stories about what teachers and students and others have learned and why that knowledge matters.
We will be joined by Dream City Brass Band!
Defend the right to teach truthfully about U.S. history and the climate crisis. Defend the rights of LGBTQ+ and immigrant students.
Brief remarks from Becky Pringle (NEA president), Lisa Varga (associate executive director of the American Library Association Public Policy and Advocacy Office), and classroom teachers.
Our event will be held during the World Pride Festival as we defend the rights of LGBTQ+ students and the right to teach LGBTQ+ history. We encourage everyone to participate in the Teach Truth march in the morning and the Capital Pride Parade in the afternoon.
This action is one of hundreds of events around the country as part of the Zinn Education Project’s 5th Annual Teach Truth Day of Action.
