Banned Together Screening at Columbia High School

The Teach Truth New Jersey Coalition is hosting a Teach Truth Day of Action event in the Library and Media Center at Columbia High School in the School District of South Orange & Maplewood.
Watch the documentary film Banned Together, engage in an interactive lesson on Black edition, and listen to an intergenerational panel discussion.
Banned Together follows three students and their adult allies as they fight to reinstate 97 books pulled from their school libraries. As they evolve from local to national activists -- meeting with bestselling/banned authors, politicians, Constitutional experts, and more -- the film reveals the forces behind the accelerating wave of book bans in the United States.
Attendees will also listen to a panel discussion with students and educators, followed by an interactive lesson, “Legalizing Black Education.”
There will be a raffle of books about people's history and the attacks on public education.
