We are asking that the State Charter Commission listen to the budget concerns of RCS school board, parents and educators and deny NOVUS SMART Academy’s appeal.

2. ATTEND THE STATE CHARTER COMMISSION MEETING on September 9th at 1pm at Rutherford County Schools Board Room (2240 Southpark Drive, Murfreesboro)

BACKGROUND:
-This year, Rutherford County Schools has been forced to divert over $14 MILLION away from public schools toward charter schools. One of these schools, Rutherford Collegiate Prep, was denied by the RCS Board twice and then overruled in an appeal by the State charter commission. 
-Earlier this summer, NOVUS SMART Academy’s application was rejected by the Rutherford County school board because of the strain it would place on the county’s school district budget
-NOVUS SMART Academy is appealing this decision to the State Charter Commission at 1pm on September 9th at Rutherford County Schools Board Room (2240 Southpark Drive, Murfreesboro)
