Education Funding & Equity: Defending public school funding against property tax revenue caps, supporting resources for public K-12 systems, and addressing student loan debt.

Other issues

Beyond voting rights and public education funding, the NAACP focuses its national and local advocacy across several core advocacy causes:

1. Economic Opportunity & Wealth Equity
 * Student Loan Forgiveness & Fair Debt Relief: Advocating for debt relief for student loan borrowers, as student loan debt disproportionately burdens Black graduates.
 * Housing Access & Fair Lending: Fighting systemic racial disparities in homeownership, home appraisals, and mortgage lending practices.
 * Living Wage & Workforce Support: Campaigning for increases to state and federal minimum wages and supporting fair access to municipal and corporate contracting for Black-owned businesses.

2. Environmental Justice & Energy Equity
 * Protecting Frontline Communities: Advocating for environmental safety standards near heavy industrial projects, fossil fuel infrastructure, and large energy-consuming facilities (like AI data centers) that disproportionately impact public health in Black and low-income neighborhoods.
 * Clean Energy & Air/Water Safety: Demanding stricter regulations for clean water, clean air, and infrastructure investments in marginalized communities.

3. Healthcare Equity & Public Health
 * Maternal & Infant Health: Addressing mortality rate disparities among Black mothers and infants through targeted healthcare policy and expanded access to care.
 * Protecting Healthcare Access: Advocating against cuts to safety-net programs like Medicaid and supporting lower prescription drug costs for low-income families.

4. Criminal Justice & Public Safety
 * Systemic Police & Justice Reform: Supporting end-to-end reforms in law enforcement accountability, sentencing parity, and community safety initiatives.
 * Re-entry & Restorative Programs: Advocating for funding toward rehabilitation, employment access, and rights restoration for formerly incarcerated individuals.
