Youngstown Freedom School 2026

Students in grades 4th-9th in and around Youngstown City Schools are invited to attend our week long Freedom School the week of June 15-19, 2026, 9am to 1pm.
We focus on the Principles of Nonviolence, voting education, and nonviolence art and poetry. This year's topics include the James Meredith March and the firebombing of Vernon Dahmer's home.

This teach-in is hosted by YCSD/Mahoning Valley Sojourn to the Past, in support of the #TeachTruth movement. If you can’t join, you can still show your support using your social media and letting your friends and community know that you stand with educators who Teach Truth!
